Projects

Em Power Uth visited the Islamia Girls school in North-West London to promote Human Rights. The activities included Drama workshops which made it possible for the pupils to understand the concept of Human Rights. The theme they chose was "Don't Discriminate" and "The Right to a Nationaliity." Ayesha Community Girls School in Hendon worked with "Em Power Uth" they focused on  "We are all born free and equal" and "No Slavery." The pupils of Ayesha Girls created poems around these themes and then performed their poems on stage. Click below to find out the outcome of this project.

Near the famous Abbey Road Studios, Em Power Uth took a short trip to the Crypt Youth club in St John's Wood. The aim was to stress to the youth the importance of Human Rights. Here they focused on the article "We're always innocent till proven guilty". Click below to find out the results.

Current Projects

Training Volunteers in an office environment to develop their skills :

  • We have 5 Volunteers in our office. We give them training such as: Promotion, Marketing, Letter writing, developing literacy skills, and rehearsing telephone calls. We watch DVD’s to understand what Human Rights are.

  • We even have fun creating Drama games in the office to develop their level of English, confidence, and communication skills.

  • We make words comprehendible so they can be fully understood.

  • If a Volunteer is at a certain level of learning we take them from that level and develop their skills ready for the workaday world.

 

Community Centre Workshops on “Unemployment” :

  • We are working with “Somers Town” Community Centre in Kings Cross, London.

  • We are currently creating workshops around the theme of “Unemployment.” 

  • We are working with young people from 16-20’s.

  • The workshops are based around the issues young people face in terms of getting work or not getting work. 

  • The workshops will lead to a Theatre production for early next year.

 

Community Centre workshops for a Theatre production :

  • “The Tree of Freedom”

  • We are about to work with “Highway Youth Club.” We will be creating workshops around Human Rights Themes such as “Don’t Discriminate” and “Freedom of Expression.”
