Crypt Youth Club

The group had taken its campaign to the St John’s Wood area, just nearby the famous Abbey Road, where youth members of the Crypt Youth Club welcomed Emma. The members within the youth club are aged between 10 – 12 and 17 -19 years old. The article focused on in this project was article 11, “We’re Always Innocent Till Proven Guilty”.

Emma had informed the group about the issues of people who are falsely blamed for wrongdoing. The group came up with outstanding examples that portrays article 11 from the Human Rights Declaration. A good example was the scene from the movie "Kidulthood".

The storyline outlined how Trev and friends had gone into the "Burberry" store to look at one popular hat in which the security guard followed them due to suspicion of theft. When leaving the store, the security guard stops Trev and friends and accuses him of stealing the hat. Trev denies the allegations made against him, in which it sparks some tension between Trev and the security guard. However, the manager in the store advises the security guard that the lads did not steal the hat and ordered him to let them go.

Emma was amazed at how the group played their role in the storyline. Their tone of voice and the language used within it made it seem like the actual movie itself. At the end, the group had realised that this play highlights that “WE’RE ALWAYS INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY”.

Well done guys!
